Non-EEA Minor Adopted Child of UK National (processing times)
I'm wondering if anyone has made an application for family reunification for a non-EEA adopted child of a UK national relocating to Ireland. The client is based in the US and is a dual US/UK citizen. She is looking to relocate to Ireland with her two children, relying solely on her UK citizenship and ability to sponsor her children.
Her children are both adopted and they are US nationals.
The Department has been unhelpful with advising us on how long the applications might take to be processed once submitted. I'm just wondering if anyone has made a similar application recently and how it took for the application to be processed?

Hi Elaine+Wendy,
Thank you for the below. I already checked this with my UK colleagues and my client's children fall outside the scope of being able to obtain British citizenship through descent. The rules are not as flexible as they are in Ireland. My client obtained her British citizenship through descent and is habitually resident in the US. She also adopted her children in the US. Matters would be different if she was habitually resident in the UK at the time of adoption and/or my client received an adoption order from the UK courts.
