Adopted Child of Irish citizen abroad
Hi all,
I want to sense check something if I may!.....17 year old recently adopted by an Irish citizen living in the U.K. (born abroad to an Irish-born mother). Can the son do FBR? If the Citizenship Acts says that an adopted child of an Irish citizen adopter, if not already an Irish citizen, is an Irish citizen, is that enough? Or is there a separate Adoption Order that must be secured here first under our Adoption Act in order for that to apply? Will the UK Adoption Certificate suffice??
Very grateful for any steer!

Sorry Louise, only reading this now. The son's adoption needs to first be recognised by the Adoption Authority of Ireland, then he can go straight to applying for an Irish passport. FBR is not required.
