Temporary Permission to reside to legalise status
My client was given 90 day permission to reside for the purpose of legalising status in the State having advised the IO at border that they were getting married. Unfortunately, they have encountered significant delays including obtaining an appointment with HSE Registrar of Marriages. Permission will expire before appointment with Registrar of Marriages.
Has anyone successfully applied for an extension of permission in these circumstances and is there any down side to potentially leaving the State to get married and returning as the Spouse of an Irish National or is this frowned upon by the Department and seen as a way of circumventing requirements etc.
I would welcome any thoughts you may have if you have encountered this before.
Thanks in advance.
Melanie

Some of the worst immigration advice I've ever heard has come from local immigration officers! Anyway refusal of leave to land has to be on one of the grounds under S.4 of the 2004 Act and based on what you've said, it's hard to see how any of them would apply in this case.
I'm assuming the client is a non-visa required national by the way, if she needs a visa to get back in then I don't think she has any option but to apply for an extension of time.
