Employment Permit for a Secondary School Teacher
Has anyone ever successfully applied for a GEP for a secondary school teacher? The problem here seems to be the labour market needs test which is at odds with how teaching positions are advertised. Teaching jobs are advertised via the Public Appointments System. I'm sure are very strict rules about this, therefore deviating slightly by also advertising on EURES and Indeed most likely is not at all permitted. This seems unfair to non-EEA school teachers. Does anyone have any experience of this? Many thanks!

No experience of this Elaine but I did once have a client who was unable to get a permit to work at RTÉ because they have their own advertisement system. I was informed that they had tried to liaise directly with the Department to find a workaround but because of the legislative micromanagement of the work permit system it just couldn't happen. I'd imagine your clients would be in the same boat.
