Permission holder seeking to register as the spouse of an Irish national

Hi All,

I have a client who is a Stamp 1G holder granted on the basis of being the spouse of a CSEP holder. His wife is now naturalised and he sought to make an application in person at ISD for a Stamp 4 as the spouse of an Irish national.

He was turned away with his wife and advised to submit his application online. He is resident in Dublin and I can see a way to submit an application online via inisonline.jahs.ie. I'm wondering has anyone else experienced something similar? I was surprised to hear he was turned away at the ISD's office. His wife was with him and they had the necessary docs to make the applicaiton.

Any feedback appreciated.

Thanks.

I have had this issue repeatedly with clients who have come over on join family visas and then attended to register their stamp 3 or stamp 4 permission and been turned away and told they need a permission letter. I've responded with a strongly worded letter to the GNIB and screen shots of the relevant pages from the irish immigration website and that has (so far) always resolved the issue.
